Going forward.. new site.. new plans…
I hope everyone’s finding themselves having an awesome time in their lives!
This essentially makes the very first blog post I have made in relation to JP3D Customs, or even Jonpryde.com in general. It has been a whirlwind of a year for me, and I am just now able to sit down and collect my thoughts.
As many of you may have gathered from my absence on Twitch.TV, life has really kept me busy the past year. The number of streams I have had in the last year has diminished to the point where I have had none in almost six months, so that needs to change. I will be returning to twitch streaming THIS TUESDAY!!! Yes, July 16th, I will stream once more. Most of these streams will be creative streams where I am working on either foam props or mold/casting something I already have. On occassion, I may stream a game where I look for cool items i can convert to foam props! No more 3D printing for me.. that’ll be addressed in a bit.
The main reason for my absence from Twitch has been the fact I have returned to teaching Songahm Taekwondo. Five years ago, I left due to a life situation that left me in a very dark, problematic place. I left the school at the time to avoid any of that from creeping in and causing chaos there. Fast forward 4 years later, the school is sold to a former student of mine, and he graciously granted me the opportunity to come back to teaching full time, as well as to resume training. So that is what I have been doing, training, teaching, and competing again. It takes up so much of my energy to teach for 4 hours a day, and by the time I get home, I’m drained. it’s taken me awhile to get used to the daily routine, so here we are!
Now for the second part of this. Over the past six months, I have had a lot of pitfalls regarding this business. Between some commissions getting canceled, other technical problems, and the fact I’m trying to push into a market that is heavily cornered by 3D Printing farms… I have decided to return to the original plan with JonPryde brand. Yes, I am keeping the JP3D Customs brand, cause that better identifies what I am doing. However I will not be relying completely on my 3D Printers. Instead, I will be returning to foam smithing, where a majority of what will be available on my store and on my stream will be made from EVA-38 Foam from TNTCosplay Supply.
This does NOT mean that I will not be using my laser cutter. In fact, it’ll get far more use! A lot of my foam smithing is done through the laser, where I do all the cutting. Saves me a lot of issues with my carpal tunnel thing ya know?
Going forward, I hope to provide more in my store. From casted objects, Foam fabricated helmets, armor, weapons… all the way to CNC/Lasered every day things. I am HOPING I will be able to construct a small CNC that will let me do things with wood and metals, but we will have to wait and see. Depending on which way i end up going, it’ll be either a large format CNC, or a large format 50W Co2 Laser that I build from scratch. We’ll figure this out, together. You and me as a team! All of you, my supporters, my clients, are the reason why I do what I do.
So I guess that’s it for now. See you all on Tuesday on twitch.tv/jonpryde !!!
